High Potential? Yeah, Right. Pass the Advil.
Another corporate buzzword designed to make us all feel like underachieving garbage.

High potential. Heard that one today.
Had to Google it, naturally.
Figured it was some new energy drink or a particularly potent strain of cannabis.
Nope.
Work shit. Of course.
Apparently, some folks are just dripping with 'potential'. Good for them.
Must be nice.
I'm over here with 'high blood pressure' and 'potential for a nasty hangover' after last night's 'networking' with a bottle of Jameson.
My kids have 'high potential' for waking me up at 6 AM on a Saturday.
They also have 'high potential' for turning the living room into a war zone before noon.
And I have 'high potential' for saying 'yes' to another beer just to make the screaming stop.
My boss probably thinks I have 'high potential' for showing up on time. Barely.
Or 'high potential' for not falling asleep during the 2 PM Zoom call.
Slim chances on that one, chief.
'High potential' is what they say when they want you to work harder for the same goddamn pay.
It's a carrot, dangling.
But the stick is still there. Right behind your head.
I had 'high potential' once.
In college.
Then I discovered cheap whiskey and late-night pizza.
And a crushing sense of dread on Monday mornings.
That's my potential now.
Crushing dread. And a perpetually dry mouth.
So yeah, 'high potential' is trending.
Good for stocks, maybe.
Not so good for liver function.
Now if you'll excuse me, this coffee isn't making itself. And neither is this headache go away.
